Ivana Adamovic, Ph.D.

Ivana Adamovic recently joined the firm as a Patent Agent and assists with patent preparation and prosecution in the areas of chemistry, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and clean energy.

After completing her Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry, Ivana worked as a postdoctoral associate in the Department of Chemistry at Iowa State University and Harvard University, as well as in the Physiology Program at Harvard School of Public Health. While in these roles, Ivana provided theoretical insight into microsolvation processes, remodeled a newly developed general force field method of interface with molecular dynamics (MD), mediated interdisciplinary collaboration between chemistry and physiology research groups in the study of muscle contraction phenomena, and determined flexibility of myosin molecule (coiled-coils) and importin-b family molecules employing MD simulations and established a relationship between protein elasticity and its function.

In addition, Ivana worked as a research and teaching assistant in the Department of Chemistry at Iowa State University where she designed and implemented novel methods for the treatment of correlation effects in model chemistry, built dispersion interactions into universal force field, applied and improved state-of-the-art methods (QM, QM/MM and MM) for treatment of solvent effects on chemical reactions, potential energy surfaces (PES), and complex structures, and developed Density Functional Theory based force field: DFT/effective fragment potential (EFP) method. She also lectured and facilitated thought discussion and laboratory classes in general chemistry.

Ivana has authored nine and co-authored four peer-reviewed scientific papers. She was the recipient of numerous awards including the National Institute of Health Fellowship and the Alpha Chi Sigma Award for Excellence in Graduated Research, Department of Chemistry.
