Jeffrey S. Clark, M.D.
Jeffrey Clark is an Associate with the firm and counsels his clients on all aspects of patent practice, focusing on patent preparation and prosecution in the areas of biotechnology, chemistry, medical devices, and pharmaceuticals.
Prior to joining the firm, Jeff was a Technology Specialist during which he drafted and prosecuted U.S. patent applications and directed foreign counsel in prosecution of non-U.S. applications. He also assisted with litigation support, including due diligence and freedom-to-operate analyses.
As a Research Fellow in Medicine at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center’s Molecular and Vascular Medicine Unit, Jeff studied SLC26A6 mediated oxalate transport in the gastrointestinal track and renal proximal tubule and its role in nephrocalcinosis and nephrolithiasis. He was selected as a guest speaker at the 2006 American Society of Nephrology Renal Week conference and presented a talk titled, “SLC26A6 Transmembrane Domain Determines Species−Specific Anion Selectivity and Electrogenicity.”
Jeff has over ten years of basic science and medical research in the areas of endocrinology, organometallic chemistry, flow cytometry, orthopedic surgery, anesthesiology, cardiology, and nephrology. His experiences include working at the Cardiovascular Research Center and Department of Pathology at Massachusetts General Hospital, the Neuroendocrine, Circadian, and Sleep Disorders Lab at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Genetics Institute, and the University of California, Berkeley, Chemistry Department.
Jeff has been the recipient of many awards and honors, including a National Institutes of Health Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award and a National Science Foundation Award in Solid State Chemistry.
Jeff has authored and co-authored several peer-reviewed scientific publications in the areas of renal physiology, cerebrovascular ischemic preconditioning, stem cell therapies and immunophenotyping leukemias and lymphomas. His research articles have appeared in the American Journal of Physiology, the Journal of Physiology, Kidney International, and Stroke.
