Laura A. Brozek, Ph.D.
Laura Brozek is a Technology Specialist with the firm and assists with patent preparation and prosecution in the areas of biotechnology, chemistry, and pharmaceuticals.
As a graduate student in the organic chemistry program at Boston College, Laura developed several methodologies for the enantioselective generation of carbon-carbon bonds via a novel 3,3′-reductive elimination of bis(allyl)palladium complexes. Using this unique mechanistic paradigm, Laura demonstrated the synthesis of versatile small molecule building blocks containing both similarly and differentially functionalized allyl moieties.
As a student at UC Berkeley, Laura conducted her undergraduate studies in the chemistry department, and also held an internship in the medicinal chemistry department at Roche Palo Alto.
Laura has received a number of awards and fellowships, including the LaMattina fellowship at Boston College, a GDCh-Jungchemikerforum travel grant, and a Vertex Pharmaceuticals Excellent Oral Presentation award. She has co-authored publications in Organic Letters and the Journal of the American Chemical Society, and her work has been highlighted as “Synfact of the Month” by Synfacts.
