Pamela A. Torpey
Pamela Torpey is a Principal with the firm and her practice focuses on patent drafting and prosecution. She has broad experience counseling clients with the development, management and strategic protection of their intellectual property portfolios. Her practice areas span both chemical and biological disciplines, and include protein chemistry, carbohydrate chemistry, polymer chemistry, isotopic chemistry, molecular biology, immunology, diagnostics, biochemistry and pharmaceuticals. She is also active in securing Trademark and Copyright protection for clients and in advising clients on trade secret protection. Pamela has extensive experience with freedom to operate assessments, product clearances, and infringement, validity and enforcement analyses. In addition to working with large corporations, Pamela has experience working with Universities, start-ups, as well as medium and large sized clients. Her counseling experience with these entities includes patent portfolio strategizing, and conducting due diligence for various acquisitions and financings. Prior to her work at the firm, Pamela worked as an intellectual property consultant with several biotechnology companies and institutions. As a consultant, she was responsible for material transfer agreements, license agreements, and confidentiality agreements. She drafted patent applications and assisted outside counsel with prosecution. In addition, Pamela was responsible for conducting patentability studies, prior art searching, and competitive intelligence. Before working with clients on their intellectual property matters, Pamela spent more than ten years conducting primary research in academic and biotechnology industry laboratories. Her research included enzyme purification and characterization, purification and characterization of angiogenic factors, drug- receptor studies, and molecular biology techniques.
