Weber Hsiao
Weber Hsiao prepares and prosecutes patents in the areas of telecommunications, computer networking, software, security, computer aided design, product lifecycle management, clean energy, mechanical arts, and medical devices. His practice also includes licensing, due diligence, and infringement analysis.
Weber's practice benefits from his international law and business studies. He attended Tsinghua University School of Law in Beijing, China where he studied the Chinese legal system with particular focus on Chinese patent, copyright, and trademark laws. He also studied the WTO TRIPs Agreement and the role of foreign direct investments in China. Weber was awarded the EAGLE Japan Scholarship to study technical Japanese and Japanese business culture at Japan’s Kanazawa Institute of Technology.
Weber gained valuable industry experience by serving in a number of engineering positions where he:
- Quality assured IP routing protocols, VoIP, digital modem, and subscriber management.
- Directed UMTS-3G network testing efforts; authored test plans, developed test criteria, and organized test schedules.
- Developed proprietary protocol stacks providing seamless handoffs between WiFi and CDMA2000 networks.
- Devised a hybrid authentication scheme based on WiFi and cellular security standards.
- Supported sales and business development with on-site demonstrations of IP network solutions for major Korean and Swedish telecommunication carriers.
- Developed and conducted sales training for a worldwide sales force.
