It’s not new news. For the past 30 years, healthcare costs have been skyrocketing. New innovations in the medical industry including new FDA approved drugs and medical devices have entered the market that have definitely improved patient care but have not always fulfilled their promise of reducing the cost of healthcare. With ObamaCare now going into effect, the focus on innovations that reduce cost of treating patients is now front and center.

Reimbursement from Medicare and insurance companies and the availability of funding for new product development is now only available for new products that can prove their cost effectiveness. This talk will focus on the challenges of bringing new products to market in the healthcare industry that can be successful in reducing costs but still offer the hope of advancing the health of patients.

John McDonough joined T2 Biosystems in 2007 as the company’s first full-time CEO and President. The Company has entered FDA clinical trials for a panel of tests for the early detection of Sepsis and plans to be in the market in 2014.
