Darrell devotes his practice to patent preparation and prosecution, design patents, patent-related opinions, and licensing. His patent practice is focused on assisting clients in a variety of mechanical fields including medical devices, electro-mechanical devices, machinery, alternative energy power generation (green technology), optical systems, and exercise and sporting goods.

Darrell works with clients of all sizes. His patent work in the machinery field includes equipment in the polymer extrusion field while his work in the optical field includes wearable video eyewear. In the medical device field, Darrell’s clients range from individual doctors to large companies or organizations.

Darrell applies both his legal and industry experience to client work. Prior to entering law school, he served as a machine design engineer with Reed Rolled Thread, Inc., designing and building machinery for making threaded fasteners. Darrell was also a project engineer with Velcro USA, maintaining, designing, and building equipment for manufacturing VelcroTM hook and loop fastening material.
