The German-American Business Council of Boston hosted their September Breakfast Series entitled, "Overview and Outlook of Supply Chain Finance (Siemens)," on Wednesday, September 11, 2019. The event was held at the offices of Hamilton Brook Smith Reynolds in Boston and Concord, MA.
How does Siemens improve supplier relationships and support its current and future suppliers?
Supply Chain Finance (SCF) is an important part of Siemens’ initiative to improve working capital and manage supply chain risk. Doug Schoch is responsible for the implementation and growth of the Siemens Supply Chain Finance program in North America. He will present the program and discuss the direction of this industry as a whole.
The SCFprogram makes use of a technology platform that links Siemens and its suppliers and sub-contractors to cost-effective financing. This program has been growing at a healthy rate over the past five years and is continuing to expand into different markets. The nature of supply chain, especially for a global powerhouse such as Siemens, is extremely complex. The international aspects present many challenges when bridging different cultures and countries. How does Siemens work to overcome those challenges and where is most of the growth taking place?

Mr. Schoch has over 20 years of experience in applying trade finance solutions within various industries that have resulted in improved working capital positions and cash conversion cycle times. He serves as Vice President, Credit Risk Intelligence & Supply Chain Finance, at Siemens and additionally heads the Siemens Credit Warehouse team responsible for providing transparency to customer exposure and credit risk management services for Siemens companies throughout the Americas.
Mr. Schoch holds a Master of Science Industrial Relations degree from Rutgers University and a Bachelor of Science Industrial Engineering from Pennsylvania State University as well as a Graduate Certification in Supply Chain Management from the Smeal College of Business at Pennsylvania State University.
