Smaller Business Association of New EnglandThe SBANE Technology and Innovation Committee is pleased to present a five-part series “Life Cycle of an Innovative Company” aimed at providing practical and practicable information on the major evolutionary phases of a technically focused enterprise. The New England region has a vibrant small business community dedicated to developing and manufacturing products and who face a common array of problems associated with bringing products with high technical content to market. Five separate events will bring together a combination of professional experts in conjunction with “been there – done that” business leaders who have navigated through these challenges to build successful companies.

“Protecting Intellectual Property”

Protecting Intellectual Property from business conception through product sales is essential to building enterprise value. Practical implementations of both patent and trademark protection, including international protection considerations, will be presented.

Ron Demsher

Ron has substantial experience in all phases of patent prosecution, as well as experience in patent litigation, due diligence, and opinion work. He has an extensive background in the legal industry with several Boston law firms. Ron’s practice focuses on technical areas such as electrical devices and systems, software and firmware,  video/surveillance systems, medical devices, energy storage devices, audio speaker systems, and sensor/control systems.


Ron guides clients, from startups to well-established companies, to develop strategies and to craft creative solutions to problems. He works with emerging companies to develop customized frameworks for intellectual property protection, and to develop a practical plan for securing the necessary protection. Ron’s litigation experience spans many aspects of litigation, from the initial identification of patents for assertion, through trial.
