Hamilton Brook Smith Reynolds is New Sponsor of the UMass Lowell Innovation Hub

May 2, 2024

Hamilton Brook Smith Reynolds is excited to share that we are now an annual sponsor of the UMass Lowell Innovation Hub. The UMass Lowell Innovation Hub (UML iHub) offers premier coworking, prototyping, and access to wet lab space, providing a research university’s benefits at an affordable price for startups from anywhere.

The UML iHub’s Lowell location is a sustainability-focused incubator/accelerator organization that supports and nurtures startup businesses with a primary emphasis on climatetech, clean energy, sustainable chemistry, environmental and other innovations. The Lowell Innovation Hub provides startup programming, direct access to the UMass Lowell's faculty and research resources, and collaboration with mentors, other subject matter experts, and sponsors.

Mark Solomon, President and Principal, Hamilton Brook Smith Reynolds, stated, “We are proud to sponsor the UMass Lowell Innovation Hub to support its mission of developing clean/green technology startups in the Commonwealth.”

The first event in which the firm was an iHub sponsor was their third annual “Clean Green Challenge Pitch Competition,” which took place on April 4, 2024.  The Clean Green Challenge was an exciting in-person pitch competition showcasing promising entrepreneurs in green tech and sustainable technology.

During the event’s fireside chat, Keith Wood, Counsel at Hamilton Brook Smith Reynolds, was honored to interview esteemed Forbes 30 Under 30 keynote speaker David Zamarin, Founder & CEO of advanced materials company DetraPel. A full recording of the fireside chat is available. Listen to David’s story about his remarkable career and how he and his company have built world-changing initiatives that contribute to sustainable solutions for our planet. Keith Wood remarked, “It was inspiring to interview David Zamarin about his experience as founder of DetraPel, and to listen to the companies giving their pitches at the Clean Green Challenge.”

We are excited about this new opportunity and partnership with the iHub. We look forward to hosting one-on-one office hour meetings with startups, collaborating on future events, and working together to help the startup innovation community.

Mary Ann Picard, UMass Lowell’s Executive Director for Innovation, stated, “The iHub is thrilled to have Hamilton Brook Smith Reynolds as a corporate sponsor and are appreciative of their support. HBSR’s intellectual property expertise in the climatetech, clean energy, recycling, and other sustainability domains will be invaluable to the startups in our innovation center."
