Hackers: Could your organization be their next target?

March 11, 2015

Hamilton Brook Smith Reynolds is pleased to be a sponsor of the Smaller Business Association of New England's (SBANE) 2014-2015 Breakfast Series, which provides monthly seminars on various topics. SBANE's March event, "Hackers: Could your organization be their next target," was held on March 11, 2015, from 7:00 - 9:00 a.m. at the Westin Hotel in Waltham, MA.

From our firm, Ron Demsher was in attendance.

SBANE Event Description:

SBANEWhat would they want with my organization?, you ask. Why would they want to get in? Well, now they are in. So, how did they do it? And what are they going to do next with all that data? Customer data, trade secrets, financial data…it’s all there for the taking and it’s easier to obtain than you can imagine. In a flash, it is compromised or just simply gone. Whether internal, domestic, or international, hackers, in fact, cyber criminals, are trying to get your precious data.

Join us for a live demonstration of some of the tools and techniques used by hackers to target your organization. We’ll walk you through how these tools are used, how readily available they are and the motivations of these cyber criminals. We’ll also offer some advice on how to protect your organization.

Bill Terwilliger, CEO of Alpha Defense, has always been passionate about computer security and has been actively involved in the hacking scene for over 20 years. He spent 12 years at Harvard University as a founding member of the incident response team. After Harvard he joined Raytheon’s elite group of security researchers and spent two years solving some of our nation’s most difficult security challenges. He has lectured at security conferences and universities. He most recently founded a cyber security firm, Alpha Defense, with the aim of partnering with commercial organizations to help maximize their security posture.
