Client Kopin Showcases Wearable Technology on WBZ News

John Fan, Kopin CorporationWBZ Boston, February 22, 2016 - Dr. John C.C. Fan, formerly a professor at MIT and now President and Chief Executive Officer of Kopin Corporation, and Dr. Ernesto Martinez, Project Leader of the Solos product at Kopin, spoke about their wearable technology.

The Solos product is advanced smart eyewear that enables elite athletes to receive real-time data while performing.  The device connects to the athlete's smartphone, providing feedback through the eyewear on such metrics as average speed, distance, and time.  "That's the key, so that you can have the whole cell phone on your head without people knowing it," Solos eyewear by Kopinsaid Dr. Fan.  The Solos eyewear projects a virtual screen that remains sharp even in bright sunlight.

"Our client Kopin, which was founded by Dr. Fan in 1985, is a leader in wearable technology.  The company has a history of success and Dr. Fan has received many issued patents for technology that he has invented.  It will be interesting to see what Dr. Fan and his Kopin engineers and scientists create next," said David Brook, a Founder and Principal of Hamilton Brook Smith Reynolds.

Today, the wearable technology arena is seeing tremendous growth.  The devices might be used for personal or business needs, from fitness trackers and health monitoring devices to navigation and communication tools.
