Yinka has expertise in medicinal chemistry and substantial industry experience, particularly in the areas of small molecule drug discovery research and development. She assists clients with preparing and prosecuting patent applications in the areas of organic and medicinal chemistry. Yinka represents clients in the following technology areas:

Prior to joining the firm, Yinka was a patent agent at Aldeyra Therapeutics where she worked closely with the company’s inventors and outside patent counsel to manage the company’s intellectual property portfolio.
 
Before beginning her legal career, Yinka held research, consulting and intellectual property positions at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Concert Pharmaceuticals, Vertex Pharmaceuticals, and AstraZeneca.
 
While at AstraZeneca R&D Boston as a Principal Scientist, Yinka was a research chemist. She was responsible for hit evaluation, lead identification, and optimization of chemical starting points that led to the identification of a chemical lead series for each of multiple projects that progressed to clinical trials.
 
At Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Yinka evaluated the institute’s chemistry invention disclosures for patentability, and drafted, reviewed and negotiated agreements related to academic research collaborations.
 
Yinka was a Chemistry Consultant to IP/Patents at Concert Pharmaceuticals, where she was responsible for preparing, writing and assisting in filing chemical patent applications in several therapy areas.
 
At Vertex Pharmaceuticals, as a Medicinal Chemistry Consultant, Yinka was a medicinal chemist in the neurology program, responsible for design, synthesis and SAR development in support of project progression.
 
As a visiting research fellow at the Purdue University Department of Chemistry, Yinka synthesized and characterized analogs of serine protease inhibitors. She holds a doctorate from the University of Manchester, United Kingdom, and was a Science and Engineering Research Council (SERC) post-doctoral research fellowship recipient at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, UK, where she achieved the first total synthesis of ubiquitin in quantities sufficient for structure determination and biochemical studies.
 
Yinka has presented her research at numerous international scientific meetings, has published over 30 peer-reviewed publications, and is an inventor on 10 issued patents and patent applications.
