Mark Solomon Elected as President of Hamilton Brook Smith Reynolds and Mary Lou Wakimura Elected as Chair of the Board of Directors

Boston, Massachusetts - Hamilton Brook Smith Reynolds is pleased to announce that Principal Mark Solomon has been elected President of the firm, and Principal Mary Lou Wakimura has been elected Chair of the Board of Directors.

Mark Solomon has dedicated his almost 25 years at the firm to guiding clients through the development, management, protection, and enforcement of intellectual property rights. A strategic thought leader on IP topics, Mark has received numerous distinctions, including from Best Lawyers®, IAM Patent 1000, and Super Lawyers®. Mark has also been actively involved in the New England IP community, serving as Past President of the Boston Patent Law Association (BPLA) and as founding Co-Chair of the BPLA Invented Here! Program. 

Outgoing President John DuPré remarked, “Mark’s experience and leadership qualities, as demonstrated during his service on the firm’s Management Committee, will be quite valuable in his role as President of our firm.” John will continue with his trademark practice and will support the firm in other ways. 

Mary Lou Wakimura will draw upon her 35 years at the firm as well as her patent prosecution and operational expertise in her new role as Chair of the Board. Mary Lou commented, “We all owe tremendous gratitude to John for his leadership over many years as President, and we appreciate his dedication to the firm. I have worked with Mark since his start with the firm. The firm is also pleased to announce that Principal Eric Balicky, Ph.D. and Principal Larry Cogswell, Ph.D. were elected to join Alice Carroll and Mark on the Management Committee.
